Types of Football Boots
February 10th, 2009 admin
Football is played most of the year round, over many different pitch surfaces and conditions, and choosing a boot that will give you the greatest support, stability and grip can be difficult. Boots fall in three general categories.
Soft Ground Boots
These boots are ideal for winter conditions on soft, natural surfaces such as grass (and mud), and have studs or blades to provide extra grip. Boots that have interchangeable studs are a good idea as you can adjust them to suit the softness of the ground.
Firm ground boots
These boots have short blades/studs or molded outsoles that give good grip in summer conditions on firm and dry natural surfaces. On harder surfaces it is a good idea to have a greater number of studs across the sole, to distribute the weight more evenly and give better comfort and stability.
Hard ground boots
These boots are designed for hard natural or Astro surfaces and have short, low profile rubber studs, placed very close together across the whole sole to give the best grip and stability. These studs are not removable, and do not fully penetrate the playing surface.
